2019 NFL Draft: Quick-snap grades for every team through Day 2

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys
Draft picks: UCF DT Trysten Hill (No. 58 overall); Penn State OG Connor McGovern (No. 90)
Day 1 grade: A
Day 2 grade: A
Overall grade: A
Draft analysis: Amari Cooper showed what he could become when teaming with Dak Prescott last year. Yes, Dallas gave up a first-round pick to get him, but let's remember -- he's just 24 years old, not a veteran who will be in his 30s before too long. If the team can't sign him to a long-term deal, then the grade gets adjusted downward, but I don't see that happening.

Replacing David Irving just got easier with Hill bringing his quick get-off to Dallas. McGovern could play guard or center, depending on the health of veteran pivot Travis Frederick. Look for Jerry Jones to try and find more weapons for the offense on Saturday.

CBS:

2019 NFL Draft: Grades, analysis for every second-round pick, from Byron Murphy to D.K. Metcalf

COWBOYS
Trysten Hill, DL, UCF

There were some issues off the field that led to him sitting out some games, spending time on the bench. When you pop on the tape the kid is a force. I love this pick. Grade: A

COWBOYS
Connor McGovern, OL, PSU

This is a good solid pick. He is a player who will be a quality starter in a few years. He opened a lot of holes for good runners at Penn State. Grade: B

Tony Pollard, RB, Memphis
Pollard is a running back/receiver hybrid who needs to have his touches manufactured but plays with impressive explosiveness, and good, not great wiggle. Cowboys could have filled bigger needs with their third overall pick. Grade: C+

COWBOYS

Michael Jackson Sr., CB, Miami
Jackson is a big, physically imposing outside corner who tested well at the combine but has trouble staying in phase with receivers down the field. His 2017 was much better than his 2018. Decent depth, has upside in Dallas if he can play up to his ceiling. Grade: C+

COWBOYS
Joe Jackson, DE, Miami
Jackson is a large, heavy-handed edge setter with slower-than-ideal feet but plenty of strength to his game. He doesn't bend the edge well but his hand use is effective. Great value for this late on Day 3. Grade: B+

Donovan Wilson, S, Texas A&M
Wilson is a tone-setting box safety who has issues changing directions or attacking in zone. In coverage, he's best when he can get physical with tight ends at the line. The Cowboys finally address one of their biggest needs late in the draft. Grade: C+

Mike Weber, RB, Ohio State
Weber has 'Ohio State speed' and while he never secured lead back duties in Columbus he made the most of his touches thanks to that speed and good balance through contact. A more traditional backup for Ezekiel Elliott than earlier pick Tony Pollard. Grade: B

COWBOYS

Jalen Jelks, DE, Oregon
Jelks is a tall, sleek defensive line tweener seriously lacking power. He must be given the opportunity to attack, and he has an effective inside move. With Demarcus Lawrence extended, the Cowboys can afford to use Jelks in small doses. Grade: B

:wow: Rooting for KK & Kyler Murray in Arizona. They gon completely change the league.

I was saying the same thing on this forum when the Cardinals hired KK back in January. Folks shouldn't be so hung up on KK's record at Texas Tech. TTU ain't a easy place to win at. His losing record had more to do with everybody & they mama in the Big 12 runs the Air Raid or some other wide-open spread offense, so KK doesn't have that advantage over the Big 12 like Leach did in the 2000's.

@Silkk

The Saints signed LIL JORDAN HUMPHREY :snoop:

Watch Sean Payton turn LIL JORDAN into a future pro bowl TE :to:

jerry should have signed LJH for the sake of our breh @jay211 :damn:

:francis: The bright side is that LJH is going to a team that will take advantage of his skillset. The Saints have had success with full-time Flex TEs before. None of us trust the Cowboys coaching staff will be creative enough to use a full-time Flex TE or that Dak is a good enough QB to get him the ball.

He also has to now go up against guys like Bobby Wagner and KJ Wright

Defend Garoppolo who will be throwing to Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Jalen Hurd

And somehow gameplan for the Rams with that awful roster he has in Arizona

His job is much harder now than it was at Tech. At least at Tech he could recruit solid state/national talent and assemble a top 30/40 roster.

He now has a bottom 5 roster/organization in the league.
