Brehs in here still think it's reasonable to keep investing high picks in OL.

Cause Chaz Green, UDFA La'el Collins, and Connor Williams ain't enough.

This franchise is basically gonna spend a top 3 round pick on OL almost every year so they can play musical chairs with the 4th/5th OL spot. And our fans and media blindly support it.

What happens next year when La'el leaves for money, we kick Connor out to RT and this new Connor moves into LG? What happens when Garrett can't go to sleep at night without having "depth" on the OL?

Crazy OL from 2014-2016 got the front office gassed up. They put way too much emphasis on having 5 Pro Bowlers on the line.

Nobody invests these kind of resources into OL like we do. And we can't even make a conference title game. We run Zeke into 25 man boxes and the entire stadium telegraphs our obvious running downs. So how important is it really?

Team just drafts Marinelli guys or Garrett guys. Guarantee you if they knew DLaw was gonna turn into this Twitter fingers, Eli roasting, boisterous, Hotboyz swag chirping rusher, they wouldn't have drafted him. They would have taken another quiet soft beta like Taco or Marcus Spears.

I can't wait until marinelli and Garrett leave this organization. their presence has haunted us for so long that it's given me a headache.

:dead::dead::dead:

If D-Law didn't go to Boise St. he'd be wearing a different uni for sure.

Great post though. No need to pour that much draft capital into OL to have it be a strength. They got Leary and Collins as UDFA's, Fleming as a FA, Looney as a FA....all quality contributors that you didn't need to spend a premium pick on.

while by far very true. I'll feel better when these two are out of the way. Only reason why I haven't given Jerry more of my ire like I have been doing since 2000 is because Stephen has taken over a bit more. although that is being seen as meh as well lately.

For the folks who want the Cowboys to draft LJH so bad:

Lil’Jordan Humphrey

The only thing more predictable than Humphrey running a weak 40 time was the overreaction and inevitable underrating that would occur afterwards. I couldn’t believe when I saw commentary from people before he ran predicting that he’d run fast or afterwards expressing shock that he ran slow. Did anyone watch him last season? Dude wasn’t doing his work by pulling away from people.

His 4.29 shuttle was really good but a little disappointing for a dude that ran a 4.16 there in high school and who slimmed down to 210 for the draft in order to run the best possible 40. My concern drafting Humphrey would be entirely about how he sees his own game and how willing he’d be to embrace my vision for his NFL career. He needs to be doing the same thing in the NFL he did in college, moving around in slot positions and using his elite combination of size, intelligence, quickness, and toughness to serve as a flex TE and chain mover in the middle of the field.

Too many people are regarding him as the wrong kind of tweener, too small to be a true TE and blocker but too slow to be a great WR. Instead, someone needs to regard him as a guy that’s big and tough enough to block some or punish smaller DBs and then too quick and skilled to be covered by a linebacker. When everyone is flexed out in space limitations like that should matter as much, the question isn’t “who can he handle in the box?” it’s “who can handle him in space?” If he goes to the right team and embraces a hybrid role like he did last year at Texas then he’ll be a very productive pro.

:ehh: Basically LJH should be looked at as a Flex TE that you move around everywhere.
