I couldn't tell you striking wise because GSP in his later fights became way more fight manager than striker. Meaning he wasn't really gambling like Jones does. Wrestling I would give the edge to GSP again because he seem to want to control his opponent and he used his wrestling to put pressure and stay in dominate position. I can't call it with BJJ. Jones is a way different fighter. Maybe a Jones, Silva match up would be better

I would say so. Better boxing( GSP still has the best jab in MMA), better wrestler(can level change and hit a double with ease. Outwrestled div 1 champions with ease considering he started as a karate fighter), is a BJJ( Jones is still blue or some shyt im not sure)

More skilled but not the better fighter. It's a bit unfair to yon yones since gsp is much older and had much longer to bolster and refine his skills. Yones is still young and will improve which is scary since he is already greater than gsp ever was.
Yon yones>gsp

GSP's boxing was definitely better and I'd probably give him the slight edge in wrestling because he had no prior wrestling experience. He was just as dominant a champ as Jones despite his lack of finishes. I'd say GSP is more skilled, but Jones is the better fighter.

Hell no. In terms of boxing only. What other area could you possibly argue Georges is better in?

No, jon jones does stuff in no one in the UFC can do

GSP was just more athletic than the guys in his divison

He was, but he was realistically also more skilled. Jones is both more athletic and more skilled than GSP.

What a strange thread.

Georges was a more positional grappler, but Jones was tapping out black belts and resting in black belt guards like Shogun's like nothing. Results>>>>>> belts, hence why people give Georges so much praise as a wrestler despite no wrestling background.

Jones completely outwrestled Olympians (Cormier) and All Americans (Bader), and was only taken down once ever by Gustaffson in a fight he spent the majority of the preparation for geeked out and blackout drunk, so to give the edge to Georges for taking down Koscheck, a faded Hughes and going tit for tat with Johny Hendricks (only elite wrestlers he fought) doesn't really make sense. They're AT LEAST even in that department, Jones' specialty is clinch wrestling not outside blast doubles, and he's way better than GSP there.

He is more skilled, but would get his ass whooped.

Jon Jones knows less techniques, but what he can do with the techniques he does know dwarfs GSP's ability.
You can train for years with an assortment of knives and lose to a new guy with a rocket launcher pretty quickly.

So being more skilled =/= being more talented, or being a better fighter.

Jones has a wider variety of moves, not to mention his amazing reach and rare ability to utilize said reach. He also doesn't rely on a jab like GSP does and does more damage with his strikes.

Not taking anything away from GSP.. dude is still a stupidly dominant fighter with insane skills. A humble, hard working champ that made everyone look like shyt. Lawler would beat him though, IMO.
