Winning fights in the dark ages of mma doesn't make you a legend ended with a losing record never won shyt famous for making an a$$hole of himself in wcw....its a hell no for me.. I'm borderline on Royce Gracie too because they hand picked his fights and fighters at the first ufc but it is what it is.

Royce Gracie gets respect for bringing BJJ into MMA, other than that :camby:

nikka fooled his family into thinking anyone of them can do MMA if they get that black-belt. :snoop:

Watching Gracies get KTFO on SpikeTV was :snoop:

Of course not. A legend is someone who you can't tell the story of the sport about without mentioning them.

This is a random thought, but looking back at Tank Abbbot he could very well of been country racist redneck prick and would celebrate that fact that Trayvon Martin got shot, and I'd never even know it.

I remember why back when when appearance didn't matter and you just respected people for what they did in competition. Now a days your arrest record political and social views almost matter just as much as you W/L record... SMH

But to answer the question, yes Tank Abbott is a legend.. When the UFC started it centered around a core of about 10 guys.. He was a "founding father" if you will of the UFC we come to enjoy today and d regardless of his record deserves madd props. He didn't back down from NOBODY( even when he lost)

I wasn't the biggest fan of his but at the end of the day real recognize real, and he was a real ass nikka.

Nah it takes more than getting there early to be a legend. I have respect for him for doing this, at the time, crazy sport. He didn't know real fighting when he started and put his health on the line when the sport was underregulated and new.

Didn't he win one of his first UFC fights with repeated punches to the nuts? :dead:

Roger Gracie beat Kevin randleman which in itself is an accomplishment for someone like Roger.

gracies won't be the best of the best but being able to crush most people on the planet is good enough.

I say so. I give dude props for knowing almost jack shyt and stepping in the cage against trained cats. His highlight reel knockouts were iconic in their day. A lot of the first fighters don't have the prettiest records today, because it was a different time in which fights were more brutal due to no rules, pretty much went until someone won and you fought several times a night in tournaments.
I don't see how any of that makes him a legend....the latter just makes them OG ufc niccas nuts. That shyt was damn near carnival sideshow status

i wouldn't say legend, but the gys form the very early days deserve a special type of respect imo.

they did it when they're wasn't any money or fame promised, and there truly no rules.

you got to be a special type of dude to do that consistentely back then, so anyone who did that goes down in history imo.

he also invented mma gloves, so that fact my push him into legend status. he's definetely no legend for his skills, but the whole package puts him pretty close.

also he could bench 600lbs
