Then you got Francis Ngannou giving his opinion that he is the best heavyweight in MMA, and not Jon Jones

Seems to be very popular in MMA circles that Jon Jones chooses which fights he wants that are easier for him instead of the top echelon of fighters. What do ya'll think? :jbhmm:

Jon Jones the fighter has has faced and beaten some of the best in the world. He's had a long career and he's headed for retirement so he's really just looking to add to his legacy at this point. MMA fandom/media are upset because they couldn't play puppet master and goad JJ into a fight while he was already signed for a fight. The only thing I agree with them on is the fact that he should relinquish the belt but they'd just call him a coward if he did that without fighting Tom. I don't think he's afraid of Tom.

Just my two cents

Eh. For context: Jones vs Ngannou was the "dangerous" super fight both men wanted but 1) UFC wasn't tryna pay them shyt and 2) UFC double downed on the fukkery with Francis causing him to leave the company. Soon after, Jones went straight for Cyril Gane who had the heavyweight belt and was considered the #1 heavyweight after Ngannou and with Stipe on hiatus.

Because Jones subbed him in under 2 minutes ppl act like that wasn't considered to be a dangerous fight for Jones as his first fight at heavyweight. It was damn near 50/50 betting odds.

After that, the next logical decision was Jones vs Stipe and then retire from MMA (he all but confirmed that was his intention during his post-fight speech after beating Stipe). But both of them stayed getting hurt and led to 18 months of inactivty before the fight happened. In that time period Aspinal and Pereiera (LHW champ) came to real prominence and that's where things stand.

Dana White is a modern day slave owner.

MMA fighters don't make anything.
Jon Jones, or anyone near his level, shouldn't fight unless they get purses similar to what upper level boxers do.

Jake Paul has earned more money than UFC fighters who have risked way more.

Jones is essentially Mayweather atp. People won’t be happy until they see him lose. Bunch of disingenuous people saying they’ll respect if he does this or that, but ultimately just want to see him lose. If he wipes Aspinall people will just resort to him using peds. It is what it is. It comes with the territory.

Depends on what you consider ducking. He knows Tom's the best heavyweight option, but Jones wants money fights. Jones doesn't need Tom. His legacy is cemented, so why fight the riskiest opponent with the lowest return, even if he most likely wins?

Alex Pereira is a much bigger name, and can't wrestle for shyt. Jones is gonna demand a king's ransom to fight Aspinall (deservedly so), or he'll hold out and ask for the bigger money fight.

All I'm asking is that he relinquish the belt, so Tom can get going.
