have you ever visited any small black towns in Mississippi like Itta Bena or Lorman? how is Jackson?
Never been to the first two cities that you mentioned, but I go to Jackson often. It’s heavily racist there.
About two years ago during the US Senate runoff race, people hung nooses and racial signs all over the state Capitol. It doesn’t help that the lady who was running at the time (she won btw) started it in the first place said that “she’d be on the front row if invited to a public hanging.” The fact that she ended up winning speaks volumes about how rampant racism is around here.
Even her fellow Republicans hit the

It is, but you have pockets of white people in and outside the city that have no qualms about making their feelings about black people known. It also doesn’t help matters that it’s the state Capitol which makes it a prime target for fukkery to happen there.
The area around JSU and Lanier HS isn’t good. The entire city of Jackson is unfortunately crime and poverty stricken. They tend devote more funds to richer counties and schools than they do to lower income areas. I know a few years back it got to the point that the state was going to takeover the the school district there.
They also ended up cancelling the Southern Heritage Classic in advance because of COVID-19, which has people pissed lol.
Those areas are kinda nice though. They're just Memphis suburbs. Deeper down into the state is another story

My fam, both sides, are from Mississippi. IMO, that area right outside Memphis and parts of the coast are the only areas of the state that I’d actually consider living in. Jackson is just weird to me, majority black, black folks in power, but still seems really fukked up.
