Bobby Fish was in the top faction in NXT when they were getting stomped out every Wednesday, because Triple H didn't have the juice to stop Vince from taking all of his top drawing acts.
Son is solely there as a Matt Sydal level gatekeeper. He's not even in the top 20 wrestlers on the AEW roster.

He's one of the founders of MMA in Japan by being one of the original members of Pancrase. Within his peers, he's recognized as one of the most dangerous people you can come across. In real life he has a reputation of someone you don't fukk with.
Then you add the fact he's incredibly charismatic, so that real life reputation gets amped with his wrestling persona (he beats up people, mean mugs them, laughs at their puny efforts to hurt him, LOVES to beat the shyt out of young wrestlers, etc.). You then add the fact he's a 30 year veteran and a wrestling legend and you basically get someone that is loved off the strength of just that without the need to get into his in ring career.
Performance wise, MiSu has classics under his belt but tends to be inconsistent. He's not someone that will give you great matches every time. But he's so charismatic he's always gonna do something you'll remember or laugh at how evil/sadistic/a$$holeish he is. Even in that very underwhelming match with Mox, you had Suzuki busted open and licking his own blood while laughing/enjoying it
