Agree to disagree. You think if there were 4 black officers that would happen? Or he would’ve even been placed in that situation? In my opinion, no. Black folks are sympathetic and empathetic to each other because we know the struggles and challenges we face. It doesn’t necessarily have to be law enforcement. It can be politics or positions where we have say and try to foster changeSign up for what? Law enforcement? This is systemic, from the top down. This myth of reshaping the system from within is more cowardly gibberish from people who never want to confront the reality that there is only one proven way of overturning oppressive systems. Violence. No other strategy has ever demonstrated comparable results. Do ya'll think history isn't replete with black people who thought they'd infiltrate the system and remodel it to our favor? Those people were either fired, killed or joined the white supremacists in our oppression.
This is approaching the LA riots.
The 1992 Los Angeles riots were a series of riots and civil disturbances that occurred in Los Angeles County in April and May 1992. Unrest began in South Central Los Angeles on April 29, after a trial jury acquitted four officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for usage of excessive force in the arrest and beating of Rodney King, which had been videotaped and widely viewed in TV broadcasts.
The rioting spread throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area, as thousands of people rioted over a six-day period following the announcement of the verdict. Widespread looting, assault, arson, and murder occurred during the riots, which local police could not control due to lack of personnel and resources against the sheer number of rioters. The complete disorder in the Los Angeles area was only resolved after the California Army National Guard, the United States military, and several federal law enforcement agencies intervened.
By the time the riots ended, 63 people had been killed, 2,383 people had been injured, more than 12,000 had been arrested, and estimates of property damage were over $1 billion, much of which disproportionately affected Koreatown, Los Angeles. LAPD Chief of Police Daryl Gates, who had already announced his resignation by the time of the riots, was attributed with much of the blame.
