have you ever looked at mayoral election results? they have extremely low turnout and people don't care. 22k people showed up to vote in the 2019 orlando mayoral elections and dyer won with 15,952 votes. in 2015 he won with 13,948 votes. 2012 it was 12,121 votes.my surprise is how, in a major city, does some one last that long?

and it's real easy to vote too. local orlando elections take like 5 mins. we have an election coming up where i have to vote for my city council commissioner. it's the only thing on the ballot ... walk in walk out 2 mins tops. i'll stop by on my morning run.
This is normal in every elected position that doesn't have a term limit tho. Until/unless you have a scandal, if you aren't fukking shyt up, people will go for tried-and-true. It's the same as a marriage. Look at Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnel, Lindsey Graham, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, etc. They have all been reelected to rep their states for +20 years each.my surprise is how, in a major city, does some one last that long?

This notion that it has to be because of some dictatorship or scandal or foul-play is irresponsible. Personally, I am for term-limits, but that doesn't mean that anyone repeatedly reelected is doing untoward stuff behind the scenes.
