They had a good team that didn't have a reliable bucket from the perimeter. That's why they kept getting in the playoffs.
Its not like those kinda players are just lying around. Jimmy Butler and Jayson Tatum had career defining moments against this team. So with respect to Jrue, him and Bud werent exactly stopping that from happening. At least with Dame, the other team has to respect him and he can go nuclear himself.
Giannis put the pressure on them with the passive aggressive behavior. They could’ve kept the guys who helped them win a championship and added a smaller piece than Dame again this is the same team who gave up 5 picks for Jae Crowder.

Stop lol. They let go of Jrue Holiday, Jevon Carter and Grayson Allen, 3 legit perimeter defenders. That is alot to give up, no other way to slice it
And offense which Dame was traded for is clunky as hell. You would think with Dame and Giannis on the same team the pick and roll would be at elite levels, but it's not. Dame is really an undersized 2 guard and can not control an offense.
Bucks offense last year was actually decent. All they had to do was add pieces like Dante Divencenzo or Terry Rozier and they would have been fine. They got worse defensively AND offensively IMO
Dame ain't a PnR type player. Hell, he's barely a PG.
That can only be determined in the playoffs. I mean they lost in the 1st rd last year. I know Giannis was hurt. But they won a game without him and blew multiple double digit leads with him.
You said they should add defenders. Thats not the same as keeping guys. And them nikkas was out there for that debacle too. Nobody is thinking twice about trading Grayson Allen if they can get Dame.

You don't trade 3 perimeter defenders for a guy who is horrible at defense and barely improves your offense... the offense you literally traded him for. And an aging undersized guard at that

Again that squad got bounced in the first round and had Jimmy Butler looking like Jordan. Its almost impossible for this squad to do worse. If that happens ie they get swept in rd one and/or Dame is channeling

They had multiple blown double digits leads. They had the ball with a chance to win the series. Dame definitely makes a difference there.

You can also blow double digit leads by having bad defense. You can also be down double digits with zero chance to win the series because of bad defense, what are you not understanding? You can not control any game with a bad defense. What you are talking about is all theoretical
Having an Average offense with great defense (What they had last year) would always be better than Average offense with horrible defense (which is what they have this year)
