Because that's who the fukk Luke Cage is supposed to be
Luke Cage is a throwback 1970's-'80's Blaxploitation type character that would use words like "sucka" "jive turkey" "youngblud" and the likes. They tried to rebrand him but like I said in a previous post that he had nothing to work with in this series because he's Luke Cage all the time and doesn't have an alter ego which if the foundation for any superhero movie or tv show. Ya'll wanting him to be hood and street still wouldn't play out the right way. They closed his barbershop and bar. All he did was walk up and down the street asking the same questions

Thinking back, he wasn't super hood

You can make someone modern Blaxploitation. It's really just the cool factor. Wesley in any of his movies was modern Blaxploitation. Keenan Ivory Wayans Low Down Dirty Shame, Samuel L in anything, Denzel in Devil in a Blue Dress & Ricochet...Carl Weathers as Action Jackson. He just had to seem like a regular dude. Colter just did not seem natural, and you can't blame the writing if his delivery is what's off. Frankie Faison killed his roll, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala, Simone Missick, Fish...everyone else killed their roles and made it seem real. Most of the time, he was too stiff, like he was reading of page. A lot of those same lines, delivered with some personality would hit harder.

Even for corny, he could've been Eddie Winslow corny...early Dwayne Wayne corny
