Only the nets are in this situation. In the other sports (football, baseball and hockey) the second tier/ lesser profile/ less popular teams (the NY Mets in mlb, the NY Jets in nfl, the NY Islanders and the New Jersey Devils in nhl) are well supported and have big fanbases themselves despite the fact that these teams are not being on the same level as the Yankees, giants and rangers when it comes to history, financial/league clout, popularity, exposure, following and revelance.

But the nets have very few fans and all the basketball fans in the tri state/nyc area, both diehard and casual-only fukk with the Knicks and ignore the nets completely. The nets are not the little brother of NY sports, they are just a neglected stepchild
