According to a couple sources at the retail front of GameStop, the retail chain has
Call of Duty: Ghosts street dated for next-generation consoles on November 5. GameStop will also be handling a special game trade in deal for players who want to jump to the Xbox One.
Earlier this week, the
NeoGAF forums spotted an advertisement of
Call of Duty: Ghosts on the
official German Xbox website, dating the Xbox One version for November 5. Gamestop has recently dated the game on November 5th as well for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Apparently the PS4 version was just street dated yesterday. This may suggest that both next-generation consoles may launch around this date, though it's possible that Activision may just be getting the game out ahead of time before the official console launches. It's also worth noting that
Amazon has the PS4 and Xbox One versions set for November 5.
GameStop will be promoting a special deal soon that will entice Xbox 360 owners to make the jump to the Xbox One. According to sources, GameStop will be offering a $50 credit if users trade-in eligible Xbox 360 titles for the same game on Xbox One. The deal effectively allows users to upgrade their X360 copy for $10. The titles that will be eligible include:
• Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
• Battlefield 4
• Call of Duty: Ghosts
• FIFA 14
• Madden NFL 25
There is some fine print with this deal. For one, the Xbox 360 game will have to be purchased at GameStop and within 30 days of release. It can only be traded in for the same game on Xbox One and must be done by December 31. It will require a free PowerUp Rewards membership. The trade in offer will be processed using a coupon that will be sent through e-mail.
At the moment, it appears the promotion is only available for Xbox 360/Xbox One and only for these games. The promo does not extend to PlayStation 4.
It sounds like GameStop will attempt to drum up interest for the Xbox One as I'm sure this deal will entice Xbox 360 owners to make the jump.
Update: The trade-in promotion has now been confirmed in a press release.
"To qualify for this offer, a customer must be a PowerUp Rewards member at the time they purchase a new eligible Xbox 360 title(s) within 30 days of its initial release and then trade that game at any U.S. GameStop location for the new Xbox One standard version of that same game. Following the purchase of an eligible current generation title, members will receive the guaranteed $50.00 trade-credit coupon via email and in their PowerUp Rewards Active Offers. Redemption of the coupon must occur by December 31, 2013. Offer is for a limited time only and may end without notice."
