Steve Shirripa and Michael Imperioli kind of touched on this on one of the TALKING SOPRANOS podcasts. They didn't go into detail (I think Steve wanted to go there but Michael redirected it) but Steve mentioned how Deniro didn't fukk with the Sopranos and I think he hinted at Deniro not wanting to work with anyone involved with the show.

Basically he's a talented but also kinda crazy actor who got big in the 80's. He kinda fell off the in 90's cuz I think he wanted to be a boxer instead or some shyt lol? Also supposedly difficult to work with on set. He had a second wind in the mid 2000's where he gave great performances with Sin City and The Wrestler - but then he kinda fell off again.

He's also notable for being good friends with 2Pac - they even did a movie together in the 90's called Bullet. When Funk Flex was talking shyt about Pac, Rourke said he'd smack Flex for disrespecting him (although its debatable if he heard what Flex said or even knew who Flex is - it kinda seemed like some random person with a camera ran up on him and said "What do think about this person disrespecting Pac?" and Mickey was just like "Ill smack anyone talking shyt about Pac").
