I liked this movie. Didn't agree with any of the criticisms.

It was cool, Spellman is kinda mediocre IMO so he did with it what I expected.

I think it would honestly have gone harder as a season 2 of F&TWS rather than a movie. 4 Episodes at least could have taken the good things about the film and highlighted them more.

Unless they can find a 7ft Tall body builder i'd rather they keep hulk in movie format. CGI characters on a tv show always give me CW show vibes.

Solid start for The Monkey. The legs won’t be long for Neon this time, but I’d imagine it’ll still make enough to turn into a profit given the budget. I feel like they’ll just throw blank checks in Oz’s direction like Focus is dong with Eggers at this point, and why not?

Cap was some Disney+ mid and needed star-power, amongst other things, in the worst way because an 82 year old Harrison Ford on a Peloton was not it. It felt like a big mistake to not have Bucky involved more after his dynamic with Sam in FATWS.

Yada yada “I don’t get the hate” - “it wasn’t that bad”. Sure…it ain’t the worst MCU entry, but you can’t excuse a drop like it just had in a month with no competition, lol.

Mid seems to be the consensus for Captain Falcon.

And The Oscar for Not Terrible 3rd Weekend MCU Hold Goes To...: Weekend Box Office Results (Feb. 28-Mar. 2)

Are the numbers good? No, but $15M is good enough for Captain America: Brave New World to take first place again.
chernobyl-not-great-not-terrible.gif
That -46.8% 3rd weekend hold does beat Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3's -47.7% hold. Of course, that came with $32.4M which is more than double Brace New World's $15M, but who's counting? :troll: One recent MCU entry that Cap did best was Quantumania's $12.8M third weekend, which was a 59.9% dip. :ehh: That drop came with the release of Creed lll. But, again, who's counting?

So, how's it looking after 3 weekends? Brave New World has totaled $163.6M. That's still less than Civil War's $179.1M opening. :wow: It only trails Quantumania's $187.1M 3-weekend total by $23.5M. That means Brave New World is actually showing slightly better legs, with a 1.84 multiple off its opening weekend to Quantumania's 1.76 at the same time.

Can Brave New World make it to $200M? I don't think so. I'm guessing it'll finish it's theatrical run at 192.2M. Will that be good enough to yield a Captain America 5?

captain-america-brave-new-world-marvel-studios.gif

Captain America might be on his last breath but Last Breath is gasping for air with a $7.8M opening. That was barely enough oxygen in the tank to hold onto second place. Gotta remember the law of thirds when diving down deep. :wow:

How bout The Monkey holding up well with $6.3M? That 54.7% decline is a great horror hold but it's still no Longlegs which fell by only 46.6% in its second frame en route to $11.9M, for a $44.9M running total. The Monkey only counts $24.5M so far. Longlegs it is not.

Paddington in Peru was fourth with $4.5M. Its $31.3M running 3-week total just trails Paddington 2's $32.1M.

Dog Man was narrowly edged out for fourth place with $4.2M. Thank God for February vacation and the weekends, which have brought this to a respectable $84M running total. This weekend saw Dog Man pass fellow DreamWorks Animation films Turbo ($83M) and Penguins of Madagascar's $83.3M domestic totals.

Notables

Mufasa: The Lion King has grossed $700M worldwide, $702.3M to be exact. Its $247.9M domestic total passes Toy Story 2's $245.8M to become Disney Picture's 23rd highest grossing movie.

Feels like the box office will be so so with big numbers, until maybe Snow White or the Minecraft movie attract families to the theater in big numbers.

Mickey Just North of $17M: Weekend Box Office Results (Mar. 7-9)

Another weekend, another flop. Mickey 17 is a $118M "original," sci-fi movie, starring Robert Pattinson, aka Batman, directed by 3-time Oscar winner Bong Joon Ho and distributed by one of the big five movie studios - Warner Bros. All of that going for it and the best it could muster was $19.1M. :wow:

Compare that showing to The Creator, a 2023 original sci-fi flick. That movie was " responsibly" made on only an $80M budget, and even that was too high as it opened with $14M on its way to $40.7M. The legs were pretty good with a B+ CinemaScore. Audiences only gave Mickey 17 a straight B. So maybe it makes it to $50M, which wouldn't even be half of its budget. Maybe $50M should be the average budget of an original sci-fi film? :manny:

Obviously Captain America: Brave New World was dethroned for the first time in its 4 weeks. Its $8.5M was more than enough for 🥈. That brings the running total to $176.5M, which is still not double its opening weekend. And it's lower than Captain America: Civil War's $179.1M opening. On the bright side, its $370.7M global total did pass Captain America: The First Avenger's $370.5M. Yeah it came out in 2011 but a win's a win. :troll:

Last Breath is almost on its last legs with $4.2M in its second weekend, which was still enough for the 🥉.

finn-cole-woody-harrelson-and-simu-liu-sit-together-in-their-diving-gear-in-last-breath.jpg

The Monkey held on well with another $3.9M for a $31M running total. That passes Heart Eyes' $29.9M to become the second highest grossing horror movie this year. Nosferatu, which was released on Christmas, has made $47.4M in 2025. That's great but it's still almost half of Longlegs' $58.6M 3 week total.

Paddington in Peru closes out the top five, for now, with $3.85M. Its $36.9M running total is creeping up on Paddington 2's $40.9M finish.

I hate it for Bong, but bro’s probably gonna drop another Korean banger that raises a bunch of eyes yet again. This got me nervous as shyt for PTA’s new joint tho. Sinners, too. I need these original movies to do well.

I don’t wanna hear anybody on here talking about how we ain’t getting original flicks.
