In the 70's and early 80's? You out of your mind?

don't question my musical taste breh, I'll run circles around you. I was listening to Portishead long before you fam, don't get me started on trip hop. My vinyl copy of Depression Cherry will be arriving this weekend btw. Imma rep you but watch yaself.

I'm just marveling at the fact that :mjpls: doesn't fukk with hip hop

Probably because the music is not from is generation. He probably knows every Earth, Wind and Fire album ever made. And don't even get him started on Rufus featuring Chaka Khan; the Ohio Players; Sly and the Family Stone and Curtis Mayfield; but a lot of rappers didn't hit it big until after he was an adult.

Jordan's teen years were probably filled with sly and the family stone and Chaka Kahn ...makes sense he wasn't on it imo

That's how I see it too. He was born in '63 and the music he would've grew up with would've been from the 70s. Mc lyte confirming that he was into the OJays and maze sounds about right

I see what you're saying but there's a bunch of ballers that played with Mike, round his age, that love hip hop music. I just find it funny that his sneakers is huge in our culture and it's history and that he doesn't even fvck with the music at all.

Yupp. Kenny the Jet Smith, who was his North Carolina teammate in college, is HUGE fan of rap

He's definitely on his :mjpls: but I'm not surprised because of his age & where he group up at. If his family stayed in Brooklyn then he'd know exactly who the pioneers were & know Rakim

Exactly. Lot of young cats don't know how it was back then. I can assure you that no stations were playing hip hop in NC.

I gotta call bullshyt..

Rappers Delight was EVERYWHERE.

3-4 years later Rakim came out..

How this young black yout denies he ever know who Ra is sounds preposterous..

THis nicca MJ had to be the ultimate church boy square to NOT listen to rap music..and not know who the GOD EMCEE was..

SOMMEBODY had to be like "Mike you hear this new rapper..."
