Why do you assume life has a purpose?

The only reason humanity continues is because of something called biological imperative, where chemical attraction and the pleasure centers of the brain are stimulated durring the process of intercourse. Everything else... money, cars, buildings, language... are simply biproducts of mate attraction.

Work in and of itself, clothing, vehicles, technology, religion, culture... these things are all uneccessary. And, until fairly recently did not even exist.
Allah tells us in the Quran (English translation of the 51st Surah, 56th Ayat in that Surah).... And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone).
So it is clear that we do have a reason for being here, and that is to worship Almighty God alone without setting up any rivals to him, i.e worshiping Jesus, cows, nature, etc. You should definitely read the Quran with an open heart. www.thenoblequran.com

The problem inherent to blind religious devotion is that the followers are so encompassed in whichever doctrine they subscribe that they begin to belive the doctrine itself is a valid sourcing.

The quran is simply a book to me. Mine is in a trunk in storage next to my bible and book of Mormon, some playboys, jet magazines, and video game strategy guides. My fantasy novels have their own shelf in my book room, as do my comics, but certain books (like the bible/quran) are worth having and reading certainly... but hold no celestial power, and I have no desire to reread them. They are not even particularly well written... simply historic.

Its a book full of unvalidated unproven wildly unlikely anecdotes. Using it to argue points is only ever going to work with someone who places equal belief into the tales within.

But, even given your interpretation... And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone) if everyone is simply created to worship Allah, wouldn't it mean the people that do not worship Allah are not doing the single thing they are intended to? i.e. if they don't worship Allah, they don't matter? Or... if they do matter, despite not doing the single thing they are designed to, it means that the worshiping Allah don't really matter, (because u matter whether u are worshiping him or not)... then the whole thing starts to fall apart when you start pulling those threads.
