He didn’t suddenly have a come to Jesus moment then decide to go home and do the right thing.
Especially if he had potentially had access to a new and nag free woman. And a getaway from the kids.
There was something about her and the situation that made him reevaluate then dip.
It probably goes back to like I mentioned earlier.
Either they wasn’t smashing, weren’t smashing enough or it was just wack and the juice wasnt worth the squeeze.
Most cats would just live in the moment wit her then deal with consequences later. If he was really trying duck his wife / responsibilities at home. It’s nothing to put your phone on silent.
And it’s not like she noticed anything, until after the fact.
