I'll tell you why US Latinos voted how they did

Because legal immigrants pay grands and go through years long process to get green cards to stay in US. They often have to have qualifications that take years of study to aquire.

They don't want illegal immigrants circumventing this process, hopping the border, and getting the same benefits for free.

It's that simple. That's why they voted Trump, they don't want illegal immigrants benefiting for free and often ending up in jail and sullying their own reputation.

It had nothing to do with color or gender. Imagine that.

Yep, also illegal immigrants that end up being criminals make it harder for people in their home country to even get a tourist visa.

The liberal, educated classes of these countries (though the Peruvian woman was conservative) that supply and vote for women leaders, by and large, don't emigrate and don't need to. They control the politics in those countries so a woman in their clique gets the nod.

The ruling class here isn't as generous with top women leaders but if self selected migrants aspire to this class or look for it's cultural touchstones, it really doesn't matter what happens in their countries of origin.

I remember a NYT article decades ago about 2 Cuban immigrants in Miami--one Black and one White who grew up together in Havana and had been best friends as children in an integrated community. After some years here the Black guy was a Democrat and the White guy was GOP and actually told the NYT reporter about how Black people were lazy immoral scum. They want to adapt and not in our (or womens') favor.
