All I'm saying is you can mask his shortcomings. You're not going to find a top QB anytime soon, so why not surround him with more talent? Look at the 9ers man. Just strip down the offense to where Sanchez does not have to think and center it around his strengths. Do this while you can look for a new QB.

which would be...?

He has more shortcomings than strengths, and his shortcomings cost us drives, cost us possessions and at times costs us games. When the shortcomings are more consistent game-to-game than your strengths, there's not much left to salvage. Why not just start over and get something better?

Now, to compare Smith and Fez, Smith has played 7 years, Mark 4 (including this year). Smith has had 3 worse QB ratings than Mark's best QB rating to date. In 3 less seasons he has almost as many fumbles and picks as Smith's entire career shows, all while not being sacked as much as Smith. Smith has shown slight improvement the last 4 years, and that was with Kaepernick being drafted a year ago to pose as a threat to his job. Fez has regressed even with the acquisition of a guy that in theory shouldn't pose much more of a threat to him than even Mark Brunell. Fans now just don't think it's worth it to feel like he should stick around any more than other problem players here.

This is a very dishonest post to prop up your argument...but hey...we will not agree on this so why bother even going further. Keep in mind Kaepernick was no threat to ASmith. He was drafted as a project and needed to sit. Funny thing is as soon as they started inserting Kaepernick into the offense....Alex's QB rating is 81.1, 78.1, 156.2, 43.1, 74.5.

Aren't you the same dude who was complaining about Fez stinking it up in his rookie season? Have you seen Alex's? What about his 2nd season? You would be crying bloody murder if Alex Smith was on your squad. Dude had a good season by his standards in his 7th year in the league. Are you willing to give Fez that much time?

I brought up Alex Smith because he's an example of a team surrounding a player with talent and dumbing down the offense in order to win now. When Fez was asked to manage games he went to the AFC championship game his 1st 2 seasons. Alex Smith was asked to manage games and reached the NFCCG.

All I'm saying is Fez is not completely inept. You can be competitive with him. The way the team is currently built, you can't.

Your hatred is really clouding your judgment.

I've been a Mark detractor since he was at USC.

If Alex Smith was a Jet he wouldn't have had the chance to do what he's doing now in year 7. This much is true. We would have all called for his head a long time ago. And no, I wouldn't be willing to give Mark 7 years to show us what he showed us during his first 2 years. Why? Because by year 7 he'd still be playing the same way and us Jets fans still wouldn't trust him.

I'm glad you said what you said about Alex and game managing. In order to move on, the team had to come to the conclusion that Alex wasn't gonna be what they thought he'd be, so they decided to minimize his importance to the game. Some fans just don't think Fez will live up to what they thought they were getting with him and would like to get a QB that can be a game manager and hopefully more than that because those are the types of QB's that can win you a Superbowl. We're not asking Mark to ultimately be competitive. We're asking to hopefully be a QB that can one day deliver us a Superbowl. We just don't think he can do it, no matter how good or bad the team is.

The Fish treat beating the Jets as I'd it's their Super Bowl, resting on "you won on a fluke" accolades.

Congrats for your Mediocrity Bowl trophy
