All I'm saying is you can mask his shortcomings. You're not going to find a top QB anytime soon, so why not surround him with more talent? Look at the 9ers man. Just strip down the offense to where Sanchez does not have to think and center it around his strengths. Do this while you can look for a new QB.
which would be...?
He has more shortcomings than strengths, and his shortcomings cost us drives, cost us possessions and at times costs us games. When the shortcomings are more consistent game-to-game than your strengths, there's not much left to salvage. Why not just start over and get something better?
Now, to compare Smith and Fez, Smith has played 7 years, Mark 4 (including this year). Smith has had 3 worse QB ratings than Mark's best QB rating to date. In 3 less seasons he has almost as many fumbles and picks as Smith's entire career shows, all while not being sacked as much as Smith. Smith has shown slight improvement the last 4 years, and that was with Kaepernick being drafted a year ago to pose as a threat to his job. Fez has regressed even with the acquisition of a guy that in theory shouldn't pose much more of a threat to him than even Mark Brunell. Fans now just don't think it's worth it to feel like he should stick around any more than other problem players here.
