This is by Tom McCarthy, same guy who did Station Agent & The Visitor & co-wrote Pixar's Up. Anything he directs is usually worth checking so I'l give this the benefit of the doubt in spite of Sandler.

People not familiar w/ his flicks might know him as the lying fukk from Wire Season 5.
