St Anger was a really good album, I looked at it like Metallica coming full circle. The mix on that album was terrible, but it didn't get the props I think it deserved. Unfortunately, after the success of Black Album I feel that they were put into that same category as Madonna, MJ, and other mainstream pop acts. Once they had the MTV and mainstream radio success, the core fanbase really did place them in that category.
