They're desperate to do anything to get their numbers up.
The typical Facebook experience now is people using it to look up people they knew, then reaching out to them so they can communicate OFF the platform or they're using the marketplace to buy and sell things and after they've made their money they dip.
People aren't staying on the platform unless it's to argue about shyt. They know this and that's part of the reason why they wanted the AI profiles. A bot can argue forever and the time you're spending arguing on the platform=opportunities for advertisers to sell to you.
Eg. You're a maga cac arguing with what you think is a liberal, and you're getting owned in front of an audience. On the corner of your screen you're seeing ads for trucks, tacti-cool gear, and other things signaling military or police style masculinity. To soothe your ego, you'll buy these products and then the next post you make is of a mag with the caption "how i communicate with liberals". You get likes and comments on your post and the cycle begins anew. If you crash out and get yourself or someone else killed, that's not facebook's problem.
It will continue to be a boomer radicalization platform. Young people aren't on Facebook, but people who aren't literate on the internet are.
