So that's why my sales have dropped lately. I just got tiered up to 100 ~2 weeks ago as well. About 5 shirts short of 500 tier in January.
Amazon has been doing some heavy throttling. They have been removing the sales rank and hiding my best sellers from customers.

I'm on redbubble, zazzle and etsy/printful. I might have to check out the inktake and designed by humans

I'm assuming you have used ams before. What are the costs for setting it up and the cost for advertising?
AMS doesnt cost anything to set up.... you can go to this link to find out how to register: Ultimate AMS (Amazon Marketing Services) Guide to Marketing Your Merch - Merch Informer

cost of advertising on AMS really depends on how competitive your keyword is.... if you have a popular keyword like "cat shirt" and your starting bid is 10 cents it's cheaper but your ads are barely gonna get shown. if you bid $1 your ads are gonna get shown more often but it adds up quick if you don't have a daily budget set.

for most lower-medium competition keywords 15-25 cents is a good amount to start bidding....if you notice that you're getting low impressions on a keyword just raise the bid by 10 cents until you notice your impressions start to increase.

Between Redbubble and Zazzle...which one do you think is better for organic traffic?

I'll have to look at this some more. I want to do more advertising. Especially since amazon is doing this hiding bs

I have seen more people say redbubble and my experience is redbubble as well.

12/12 Update: We will continue to pause through next week. Our next update will be by Tuesday, December 19. Thank you for your patience.

people on the Merch facebook group told me that this is pretty much what Amazon did last year around the same time so i was expecting it...lowkey salty still but this isn't my main source of income yet so im not really trippin. it's still fukked up for people who depend on those royalties every month to keep a roof over their heads and pay the bills.

here's an interesting theory from someone on FB though....

Chris Green is at Jewel Runaway Bay Resort.

Merch By Amazon may be becoming more of a platform for influencers and those with a following/audience to help them monetize.

As opposed to a platform of free, organic sales and traffic.

Just one man's opinion; nothing more.

i personally think that might happen...i dont think theyre gonna completely terminate people who are already part of the program but i think they might make it so that you have to have a following already and go under evaluation before you sign up

edit:

you can drive outside traffic to your shirts now....i wasnt able to "add to cart" or choose variations before...not sure about AMS because it's working for some people and frozen for others. gonna try making auto campaigns for every shirt not just the bestsellers

I don't really have an issue with the freeze. I had almost all of my slots full. The thing that hurt me and a lot of other sellers is this whole throttling nonsense. Almost all of my shirts that have sold multiple times are hidden/unavailable on Amazon and I can't get this ams thing going. I was expecting a way better Nov and Dec.

Going to have to change things. Amazon can't handle all of the sellers and business they are getting right now and with them allowing more sellers and adding more products in the near future, it's likely to get worse. I gotta find some new ways to advertise and start building up my teepublic, etsy and redbubble stores.

As far as the Chris Green thing, I rarely listen to the things that he and these other merch gurus have to say. Most of it is just to sell new products that they are planning to release.
