Of course the ATL
Come on fam.
They are about to raise prices over there and kick out people who have been there for generations in favor for these yuppies who claim to be accepting of all races, but are as racist as conservatives.

They are trying to change what makes Atlanta unique..a large, successful metropolis that is majority black. Wouldnt surprise me if in 50 years most AAs will be in rural areas.

I certainly get people's fear that they do try to gentrify that area. I do think the difference this time is that the money from the stadium project is being earmarked for projects and initiatives that will keep the area historically black.

-Westside Works (A job and training program for residents of Vine City & English Ave)

-Meetings with Blank, the City of Atlanta, Vine City & English Ave residents on proposals to keep the taxes from changing so that current homeowners can still afford to stay there

That being said there will be change and redevelopment in the area, but if you really been in Vine City/English Ave change was needed. I don't think that "gentrification" is a completely horrible concept but it does have to be regulated so that our people aren't phased out. That's why I asked you to be specific because I think you can have the MB Stadium act as a catalyst for development while still keeping the community historically black. If you're still skeptical, I get it, but these meetings and Westside Works projects are already happening and I do think they'll be able to preserve the essence of what makes those communities unique: Historically black and black owned.

@CashmereEsquire @Poitier @The ADD @JamilALAmin how concerned are y'all about gentrification down there?

Depends on how you look at it. These aren't generally established areas. On one hand
these areas have been basically in ruin for as long as I can remember. What is the alternative, allow it to stay the same?

I think the bigger issue is getting working class black people in those areas which usually seems to be a gap in gentrification.

I mean it's clearly an issue, but i don't think cacs will take over the whole westside. Just off the fact that a lot of the west ain't really built as urban as the east. Lot of open land on the west that ain't got shyt on it. You could fit 10,000 people on Jackson Pkwy between Bolton and Bankhead alone. Whole lot of building out needs to happen first before the west side looks like stuff over east. And I have a hard time believing cacs want to stay in some frame siding house like the ones you see in Adamsville or off Hollywood. That shyt isn't what hipsters want, they want them grid streets with turn of the century bungalows on them. West End, VC, Bluff and maybe a few other areas got them on the west. That's it as far as the west goes. Until mid century ranches on curvy streets or small 2/1's like them houses you see in areas like Arno Court become in vogue, I just don't see the whole west becoming gentrified. Plus y'all gotta pay attention to the crime and the schools too. APS still sucks and crime is going back up. The Bluff has calmed down a lot, but it's still a shyt load of trafficking over there and look at the city as a whole. Summer just started and look at what's been going on. Like 10 people got shot just yesterday in the city. White people pay attention to shyt like that. And a hot summer in Atlanta will pump the brakes on that gentrification just a little bit.

The Dome and the GWCC expansion helped fukk it up too tho. Lot of brehs don't realize it or wasn't around to remember but before they built that shyt, houses used to be on the other side of Northside too. That area was called Lightning, and it was basically the east side of the Bluff/VC. They started tearing it down decades ago, but the last areas they tore down right before they tore Techwood down. But you still right tho, the Bluff been fukked up since Frank Matthews flooded that bytch with heroin back in the early 70's. Lot of folks miss that too. Frank Mathews is the one who made that area such a hot spot for heroin.

Man I just moved to Atl in October and I live in the Castleberry Hills area, this thing was nothing when I first got here and now look at it. It's been crazy watching the dome get built up every time I drive on Northside

It's massive. When you drive by it its just like :lupe:

First game is in 6 weeks, Bootleg Falcons (Arizon Cardinals) come to town
