:why: don't we already have like 24 examples of state run insurance systems? and they all pay less and get more.

The basic economic principles of private insurance don't work if your goal is to keep your population healthy.Insurance profits come from maximizing costs/premiums and minimizing the service that is provided to the customer. Private healthcare, private pharmaceuticals can be argued for but private insurance doesn't make any sense.

:whoo:They bringing all the emotional appeals out...

Lets get a study, that assumes some diseconomies of scale, or dives into what the term “comprehensive” means.

Lets consider the effects of the rich (who under the Sanders plan would be barred from paying private providers of goods and services) going either overseas or into the black market in order to obtain vital goods and services in a timely matter that less fortunate individuals cannot afford.

:camby:The sob stories...
:ufdup:basic economic principles apply to all goods and services, no matter their elevated position in the social discourse.
Smh this is life and death were talking about here not fukking goods and services you sociopathic piece of shyt

:hubie:The study assumes a lot to reach its findings...
This isn't the type of policy we wanna rush into without careful consideration and intense scrutiny.

Emotions shouldn't play a prominent role in American policy decisions:manny:IMHO

Public is told [insert gov program/initiative] will cost X, it ends up costing Y:yeshrug:
If ya'll still buying cost predictions for state ventures... theres nothing to really say.
Do you know why that is the case most times? because they end up outsourcing portions of things to who? Private companies. your favorites Dead.

They are the ones with the consulting firms that overcharge for doing half their jobs.

But lets be real about it. We have multiple examples on how it works. we have other 1st world countries that have done this before as real solid examples. This is not some NEW idea with no history or no examples to utilize. and its not to say we should make it just like those countries ours should be better since we got the cash floating around to do it.

and please explain to me why are you so hell bent on keeping things as they are? knowing they aint working for the average person.

we see how the Rx companies are treating us.

:hubie:Sure...
My point is touting gov cost estimates at this point in the game as if they are accurate seems silly.

The switch to MFA(merit aside) could be a wash or more expensive.
The estimates from the studies ive seen(this one included) also make some dubious assumptions.

In fact many of the assumptions have been laid out by the author of this threads study.
Do your googles.
