Don't take it out. DCA (dollar cost averaging) is your friend.
People who lost big in the Great Recession and used DCA during the downturn earned their losses back and more within two years.
I get you breh. I told my parents to just weather thru it and that eventually things will bounce back. They been stressing cuz its most of their money but I'll try to keep they anxieties at ease.
How old are your folks? Depending on age, they should be more in bonds than stocks.

I've officially lost all my gains for the year. What are you brehs dealing with 401-K going forward?
I've literally spent my lunch break every day for the last week trading like a madman. I put everything into bonds, I don't keep anything overnight, I just try and come out of close everyday up at least a least a little because I sure as shyt am not gonna get caught with my pants down and lose everything when the recession hits. 
My 401 is taking an absolute beating, I'm gonna push all of it into long term bonds.

Just changed my contributions and all my money in my 457 to a stable income fund. I'll take my 1-2% gain over taking a beating
