That's because in sports there's a clear athlete/journalist foundation, in wrestling it's marks pretending to be journalist so they don't know their place. Meltzer is a joke now but he still has enough social outcasts that'll pay to hear his bullshyt.I don't think there's the same adversarial relationship in any other of the main sports. Only thing that comes close is MMA.

I don't really count SAS as a journalist. It would be like calling since Russo a journalist or something.NBA too a little. Look at Durant with Stephen A
And politics

I know we can't get in detail about it rn since folks are gearing up for night 2 & Roman/Brock etc
After all that we need to talk about how badly this WM exposed "wrestling journalism". All the "sources" got everything wrong about Cody up until the damn night, they said there wasn't a Stone Cold match and look what happened. Then in the middle of the Cody drama QT Marshall exposes just how deep AEW's in with these people. Wish I could make 6 figures just lying about shyt all day must be nice
Not to mention some "source" said Ronda stormed out of the building earlier in the night.I know we can't get in detail about it rn since folks are gearing up for night 2 & Roman/Brock etc

I dont know why people dont think those things were up in the air until a weeks ago though.
A lot of how Cody was presented seemed very special compared to others who come in and Im sure there was weeks of disussions and threats of dropping out. Same with Austin they maybe wanted a proper match or a skit and ended up doing something in between
Cody said in one of those WWE backstage interviews after the match that it was 40 days since Vince and Bruce came to see him about signing. So that was likely the window for all this.I've noticed a pattern, when Dave or somebody whiffs terribly you come in with plausible deniability saying WWE changed everything.
If Dave can come in and supposedly give what plans are up to the minute, he needs to give the plans after they change too. Can't have it both ways so when he's wrong "oh it's because Vince woke up Tuesday and changed it", where's Dave's accountability?
I don't believe Cody left AEW before his WWE spot was set like Dave said, just like I don't believe Vince planned on debuting him at that Jacksonville RAW or any other RAW Dave said. Last night and the build the weeks before was put together too well for something done in a short window like you're saying.
Just like I don't believe Vince was ever in the cards to wrestle Steve or McAfee either, Vince and everyone around him knows he can't sit there and answer questions from Pat without getting tired. Dirtsheets got worked over major and painfully exposed.
