I get that people travel and shyt but that's more for WrestleMania than anything. Even SummerSlam is going to have a big local crowd and how many times they had it there now. It's played out plus it's honestly a one match show. There's other matches that will be good but u can watch them at home. There's nothing that is making people feel like they gotta be there live.
The idea that any company in the history of wrestling could sell out buildings even in their home town for four nights in a row is ludicrous. Especially since one is basically their minor league and three have the same wrestlers.
Imagine 97 WCW had
Saturday - a card with Scott Norton vs raven on the top, with the rest wcw Saturday night guys
Sunday - super brawl
Monday - nitro
Tuesday - thunder
All in Atlanta or Charlotte. It's absolutely impossible to NOT cannibalize your own audience. This is a pure non story to me outside of perhaps poor planning...and even THEN they're gonna make way more money in this four days with the shows than they would any other time of the year other than Mania.

I used to drop Lewinsky off at the White House.
Sucks because we usually we can rely on WWE to atleast pull a good card together for the 2nd biggest PPV. Even when TV is shyt most of the time we know Vince will put something together for SSlam or WM but this shyt

Don't recall if Smackdown was in San Antonio but they only had 40K in attendance so they weren't really clamoring for the Rumble either.

They did sell out last year for three straight nights so it makes sense for them to add SD. Next year they'll probably just stick to RAW.
If you look at all the events they're having this week, you can see why they'd want a presence in NY or LA. They want to be able to do as many media appearances as possible.
