He used to sabotage shows and fukk with the sound in the 80's when people like PE and Kane were new acts. He hated all the way then. Those vets never spoke on it but it was common knowledge amongst them. Stories started coming out the last few years.

Questlove's podcast which kind of flies under the radar as far as rap podcasts has had a few rap guests allude to the same shyt. i don't recall which episodes but it was basically all the same story. dude would be unplugging speakers and all that, straight bully ass hater.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that he's a better overall rapper than the people he's mentioning.

There's something about a deep catalog and surviving different eras (as a relevant artist).

Some of the so called greats cannot adapt to new eras.

But. If someone were to say that his material on the Message was GOAT, I wouldn't try to argue.

I think it was the first time tho. This niqqa said he gonna smash Chaka. Straight up. I was pretty young but I was kinda shocked. It was very risque. And super dope.

Mel only had so much of a run. Wasn't able to develop as times changed I guess. But his highs were mile high.
