She doesn’t have any ownership of her Masters. The contract leaked and Carl was lying. 1501 also owns 50% of her Publishing and gets 30% of her show money. Not only that all expenses for her shows come out of her portion of the show money.

Looking at this im not sure whats a far contract anymore :dahell:

Now they taking your show money

but the record company puts money into you from the start

How are they gonna re coup .....if they dont get some of that :wtf:

its wild :damn:

It don't matter what deal she signed, she doesn't like it now.

She asked them to re-negotiate knowing she had the leverage BECAUSE THE DEAL WAS JANKY AND THEY HAVE NO REAL POWER.

They should have just took the buyout for her contract and been happy with the win fall, now some real brilliant lawyers are going to tearing that legal zoom contract to shreds and they will end up paying money out.

She's not right for not honoring the deal.

They weren't right for the BS deal in the first place.:yeshrug:

Contracts don't work that way, you can't tell a mortgage lender that, "I don't like paying 3%....I want to pay 1.75 because John down the street pays that, so I will void the contract because I feel like it."

Deal is the deal, business is business. Meg made an emotional response to a legal action.

You can if they spelled "mortgage" wrong or other typos. You can if they didn't get it notarized. You can if you have the money to find the weakness in that contract. I'm pretty sure Rocnation has the resource to do that, with no problem.

That’s actually exactly what you should do with your mortgage as your credit and income improves. You refinance with better terms.

To me if the contracts for artists are this bad, I have no problems with artists getting their hands just as dirty to get out of them.

My only concern for Meg is her not making smart moves like brandishing an expensive ass chain on social media when u trying to appeal to the sympathies of a judge or jury to get out of a contract that’s robbing u blind.
:stopitslime:

Man please, judges aren't pocket watching like the public is. What she spends on has nothing to do with what she is owed. if you sue T-Mobile when they don't give you contractual service, will you lose just because you go buy the new 1500$ flip phone after you cut them off? Of course not. This isn't a bankruptcy case, to my knowledge she never claimed she was broke. She just said she is owed

Ahhh I gotcha. But I wouldn’t put it past people to still use that angle against her in some way.

So the Carl dude lied?! Can’t she also sue him for lying?
Complex obtained a copy of Megan Thee Stallion’s original contract with 1501. Contrary to Crawford’s claim in Billboard that Megan owns “parts of her masters,” the contract says that 1501 “hereby is, the owner from inception of each Master Recording… [T]o the extent that ARTIST may be found to be the owner or author of any Master Recording, ARTIST hereby irrevocably assigns to COMPANY all of ARTIST’S rights in such Master Recording.”

The label also takes half of her publishing (“an undivided fifty percent interest...to each composition”) and puts itself in charge of administering it as well. In addition, there’s a clause where Megan can be fined if she’s late to publicity sessions, recording sessions, or appearances. It’s a clause that has actually been exercised, Complex is told.

Another part of the deal is that the label gets 30% of live performance money, and all expenses for the concerts come from Megan’s share. And despite the fact that any tours must be approved by 1501, the contract includes language that the company “is not a licensed ‘Talent Agent’” and “is under no obligation to procure employment” for Megan. The talent agent language is likely there to get around licensing qualifications for talent agents in Texas.

The source close to the situation confirms Crawford’s claim to Billboard that, for several months, Megan has been holding back money owed to 1501. But they claim that this is only being done until Crawford can provide a full accounting. “For two years, they've been collecting her money and she's hasn't been paid,” they explain to Complex. “They’re not paying her or submitting statements to her.”

Crawford’s attorney Tom Van Arsdel was not immediately available for comment.
GEEZ. Is this shyt true?!
