He said he got the receipts we’ll see in court.
He’s also basically saying she got a good deal compared to the rest of the industry.
He blew her up and said he invested millions.
Meg is in a position to be rich regardless of these %’s.
I can’t take her seriously when right off the bat she lies about her age. She said she was only 20 years old when she was 23. It’s not about industry age. Her industry age is 25 she signed 2 years ago, she was 23. She lied to seem naive and get sympathy from the fans. She literally lied to everyone. Most people don’t know how old she is or care.
She said she didn’t know what’s in her deal. It can’t be true. She had her mother who had been in the industry by her side, T. Farris, and a lawyer as well.
She said she was ‘around’ 20 or so which leaves wiggle room but I really think overall that’s not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, folks spent YEARS debating if Beyonce was 15, 18, 25 and lying about it... everyone has an ‘industry age,’ to seem younger and more approachable. That doesn’t mean she deserves to be taken advantage of IF that’s what happened
it’s also very convenient to me that so much blame is being placed on her dead mother who nobody can question unless they break out the ouija board... even if her mom and T. Farris (who IS being suspiciously quiet throughout all this) knew, that doesn’t mean Meg knew, if anything that’s more case for her NOT knowing because she probably thought her family had it covered.
I would like to see the receipts so I guess we shall see when it goes to court... to me this def seems like something that could be cleared up easily by producing the contract, down to the date on it since they’re going back and forth about terms, dates and ages. Produce a dated contract with everyones signature (meg, her mom, t Farris, Carl, everyone that was involved) and then yeah we’ll all know what’s what. BUT if Meg’s point is that the contract is unfair OVERALL and her lawyer convinces a judge it’s unfair (regardless of ‘its a good deal compared to the rest of the industry’) then she’s out... If she feels the industry gets crumbs and Meg goes to a judge and says I’m starving, idc that the other artists are fine with crumbs, I’m not fine with crumbs, a judge CAN possibly take her side. (And I’m not personally saying Meg got crumbs because we don’t know the terms of the contract, until it’s produced this is he said/she said especially regarding masters ownership/publishing.)
Before her lawyer won that case for the Gaye family there was no argument that you could be sued over the ‘vibe’ of a song, now there is. It set a precedent in the industry. Meg suing over terms that are already seen as ‘acceptable’ or even ‘good’ could set another precedent. Carl invested millions and Meg can argue that she made that money back and then some but she is still not getting enough as an artist... her lawyer just has to convince the judge.
