Stopped reading here. At no point have I, or anyone else with a pulse, ever said that.

It's not "worse" it's just not the NCAA's realm.

And that is more relevant and noteworthy than everybody at the top of the program aiding and abetting a child rapist? :wtf: Unless that is the case it is pointless to dwell on who's realm it is or any other technicality that you might wanna present. You are trying to have it both ways. On one hand you wanna diminish what went on by focusing on how wrong the NCAA was or the fallout for the program and those associated with it and then on the other hand you wanna swear up and down that you aren't diminishing it. What you give focus and attention to is what you deem most important. You can't focus on one thing (NCAA is wrong, it's unfair) and then turn around and act like you aren't making it the paramount or hide behind what other have said or fatigue or equal time. If you wanna talk about wrong there is nothing more wrong that what was going on at PSU that all these people covered up.

are you a lawyer or trained writer? (contradiction)

you write very well and know how to construct an argument (or at least by message board standards)

Speaking as a Penn State Alum that is about to go back for grad school, I will say this. I do feel a lot of people are coming down too hard on Penn State as a whole. I find it disgusting that people want to kick all of us for the action of one monster and the in-actions of man who betrayed our school by not doing the right thing and helping those kids. They talk about a cult. They talk about the riot when Paterno was fired. That was a riot of 500 idiots out of a school of 40,000 kids. Why does the candlelight vigil of 10,000 students demanding justice for the victims never get mentioned? Desmond Howard talks about kids just up and leaving, but it isn't as simple as that. I'm going into my course because it's the best Communications graduate program in the Northeast.

I will say this, our sports program got a decent deal in my opinion. I will take what the football program got over a four year death penalty any day of the week, and will also laugh at people underestimating how quickly PSU will rebound after the time has been served. Believe me when I say that stadium will still be filled every home game.

I know I'll get insulted for what I say, but I don't care. Penn State is bigger than one man. Paterno helped build Penn State, but he abandoned Penn State in my eyes when he abandoned those kids. We're about to show all of you we're bigger than football, we're bigger than one man and this place will survive.

Say what you want to me, I'm still proud I'm a Penn State man, I'm proud of the friends I made there, what the degree got me in the real world and the academics.

WE STILL ARE PENN STATE!!!!!

Everyone at PSU not named Paterno proved they weren't bigger than one man and bowed down to his every whim.

You're acting like Penn State is the only place guilty of hero worship. Plus, you're making it out as if the entire of Happy Valley wasn't deceived into his facade of honor like other areas. Paterno's hero worship went far beyond State College. Take it from someone who grew up in Pittsburgh. We all bought into the lie.

this is the fairest post ive seen from a PSU student/alum/supporter since this whole mess started

however when Desmond Howard says the kids can leave, he is talking about the players.

Outside of that, this is as good as it gets and I wish more PSU fans expressed views like this.

This is the man that gutted PSU, who has typically upheld the standard of the student athlete and balancing academics with athletics better than most schools, for "an erosion of academic values that are replaced by hero worship and winning at all costs."

The same university chancellor who made 2x as much as the average, at a 3rd tier academic school, with his salary funded by a private institution set up for the school's ATHLETIC funds, at the expense of faculty and classroom facilities, essentially for the sole reason of winning football championships

But nah, this is your white knight to come slay the evil Penn St. dragon. Get all the way out, please n thanks :scusthov:

When you buy into a man who seems larger than life it can be hard. It cut deeps for me because Bobby Engram is someone that I know and he told me how Paterno saved his life. Also when I was in the ninth grade I was part of a Penn State education program called PEPP and we got to go up to State College and meet Paterno. He talked to me and my friends personally about how we were the elites because we came from a rough neighborhood and were succeeding. I'm willing to admit it tears me apart to not think of Paterno as someone who failed at the most important decision in his life because of things like that. But, I have to accept fact as fact.

So what I "give focus to" in one thread on a message board on a topic that y'all discussed for over 900 replies must mean that for the past 8 months that we've all known about this, and I've barely breathed a word about it on the boards, you claim to know how I focus my attention? You've bugged my room and heard the convos I've had? You've bugged my phone, my texts with my family? Yeah it might be a few posts to get your moral high ground on on the coli then call it a day, but my community been talking about this for months. I don't need to prove that shyt to you just because this is the one thing YOU 'VE SEEN ME SAY on the matter. What you think I just spew my every thought on to the board? Your entire argument is a fallacy - you jump to conclusions and make assumptions about my thoughts and motivations simply because I don't voice every last damn thing I think on to the-coli.com. The NCAA thing is OBVIOUSLY an issue, as you seem to ignore or have forgotten, since YALL talked about for 900 replies. Should I repeat that again? You all, not me, YOU ALL, debated this for 900 replies. Columns coming out daily on both sides of the fence. I'm a PSU fan so it's of more interest to me than is to yall. Buttttttttttttt YALL are the only ones who can talk about it? I'm supposed to just bow my head in shame? Bro, I've BEEN made to feel like I need to bow my head in shame for MONTHS. I've BEEN bowing my own head in shame toward several individuals and groups for MONTHS. Don't come on here and act like you know what I think , talk about, or care about simply based off one thing I chose to make a thread about on the-coli.com

Now this is a post I can totally respect.

IMO it was those guilty of covering up Sandusky that punished PSU, not the NCAA.

Dude is on point, and I said the same shyt back in November, but none of yall was hearing it in the blind rage.

Nobody needs your respect when you dole it out from the comfort of your fandom of some other school that never had to deal with this, from the ignorance of not knowing the thoughts I've had, the convos I've had, the feelings I've had, and just want to jump to conclusions about those based on something I want to talk about on here. It's been over 8 months, and I want to talk about things other than child abuse. Ya know, like , maybe a topic that, like, maybe, everyone else is allowed to talk about except, apparently, me.

Bruh,
You didn't come off this way back in November. Even though you agreed that it was a heinous crime, you still were like "but". Right now you are bytching and moaning over the NCAA being full of shyt in the way they punished you all. While the NCAA IS full of shyt, this is one time when I can't really fault them. None of the other shyt that the NCAA has dealt with concerning other schools and their transgressions are close to the shyt that happened at PSU. It's not even a contest. When those in a position of power at an institution fukk up, the innocent suffer. Even in "suffering" the players there have a choice to leave and the students still get a great education. When those clowns decided to protect Sandusky to save the School and the Football Program's image, you became collateral damage. It's not different than many things in life bruh.

The sad part is that if they threw Sandusky in the bushes when it first happened, your school would be held in a MUCH higher regard than it was before this shyt went down.

I do applaud the football team for sticking together and deciding to write a new chapter. That's all you can do. Move forward and learn from the mistakes of the past administration.

I know you pissed off and shyt bruh, but you gotta suck this one up. You're not going to get any sympathy about the NCAA when you got this kind of shyt in your house.

Yall will be okay bruh. Just gotta take this L. :yeshrug:

Then you punish Paterno and the administration that covered up the scandal. No one's saying they don't deserve to get locked up.

Punishing the whole school with bowl bans and schollie reduction achieves nothing. Fine them for those profits and let that be that. Anything else is just extra.

how do you do this after the fact? all the way from 1998? you cant. so you punish them today. its all you can do.

and you glossed over the rest of my post....the school profitted from the cover-up as a whole...

every year they were allowed to play games...go to bowls....recruit...make $$$...the school is liable...they should pay whatever penalties and not cry about it...

little boys were getting raped....and people are worried about scholoarship #'s and post season bans? :smh::why::smh:
