Again, did yall actually listen to the reference tracks, or just going by the titles. Because I sat down & actually listened to them, and they shared at best 3-4 lines.
Why does this keep going over people head. Drake isn't structuring the songs at all...Quentin already did that. Drake didn't have the hook...Quentin had it for him. Drake is basically featured on his own song...piggybacking on the creativity of someone who he knows don't want to go back to baking biscuits. Drake is taking the rhythm, cadence and vibe that someone else came with and then he swaps some words around and puts his "Drake voice" on it.
I can take a paragraph from Langston Hughes... Customize it to my words and if people never read the original they'll think I'm brilliant at my craft. It's easy as fukk to do because the foundation is there for me already and if i'm witty enough I can flip it to the point where people won't question it.
Original version: She was as beautiful as the colors on the butterfly that floated aimlessly with joy.
Drakes spin: She was a beauty that others watched like a butterfly floating carelessly with glee.
If he was writing a paper that's still considered plagiarism.
But it is what it is....people will believe what they want.
