Meek Mill - Championships (Discussion Thread)

I don't like Meek Mill. But damned the album is great. He got the "maturity" that was lacking a few years ago.
A changed man.

Only a couple skippables to me. I don't fukk with Splash Warning and a couple other features but out of 19 tracks I'm still got like 15 in heavy rotation this album is really damn good

That soulful philly “Moms Praying” shyt. I got that same feeling on the championships track. I think if Meek would’ve kept more of the same vibe throughout and got rid of some of the pop joints and trap joints could’ve had a classic.

He will never do that because he says he dont like albums that have only one mood or vibe to them. Unfortunately for him, thats the wave now, making 14 track albums that are atmospheric and moody.

Both them shyts terrible. W&L didn't have lows this low and had higher highs.

I don't know if W and Ls had higher highs. If you line them up I think the best 15 compares favorably. Also, W and Ls and shyt like Glow Up that didn't pan out. The girl records on here are better than on W and Ls. And I think Championships compares well to 1942 Flows. I think What's Free >>> We Ball. I think Uptown Vibes compares well to Issues, etc. Trauma v. Save Me and so on. I still think the Trillest is his most underrated song.

The production on W&L is better, imo. Not saying that Championships is bad.

Thing is, that I skip a lot more on this new LP.

Going Bad
Tic Tac Toe

and there's a few other songs on here that I don't wanna pass judgement on yet cause I feel like I haven't even been able to get through a full listen of this album

The highs, though:

Uptown Vibes (but I'm Dominican)
WTS (but I'm Dominican)
Trauma is gets the most replay from me
Intro is coo, not better than the one on W&L


The sequencing towards 2nd half of the album makes me not wanna finish it...
