I’ma put you on some game lil man.
Anybody who gave money to Steve Jobs is what is known as an investor. Steve Jobs was not guilting people into making donations. He was presenting investment opportunities in exchange for capital.
Anyone who provided Steve Jobs with capital got part ownership of the company in return as reward for taking a risk and betting on Apple.
That’s how business is supposed to work. Does King Flex offer any kind of ownership or reward for risking your hard earned cash on his ideas?
That’s the con. He collects money as if it was a non-profit, but creates and sells the product as a For profit business.
You all finance his ideas for free and he makes all the profits. Then he turns around and sells you the very product you financed.
It’s actually quite brilliant.
When Jobs was in his parents garage and needed bread for a motherboard or a program, every cousin or friend who gave him bread to reach his vision are not stock holders and millionaires. Once it became Apple and was in the position to sell stock, then of course. Hidden Colors, conferences, etc all are ideas. People are funding an idea. Asking for something in return at that initial stage is ridiculous. Once the idea blows up and becomes what you invested in, its mad corny to think something is owed to you. That sounds like the cats from your hometown mad at the rapper that blew up and think he owes you something cause you let him sleep on the couch for a weekend when he was grinding and chasing his dream.
