I swear this thread is posted every week. Reminds me of those Chicago threads about weekend or holiday shootings. You'd swear it was the apocalypse and 108 pound teens were terrorizing the entire city on some Mad Max shyt.
As much attention as this forum seems to give to ATLs club scene as a potential COVID superhub there doesn't seem to be much evidence besides pictures of packed clubs. While disconcerting and dangerous, they are never accompanied by any statistics that show a correlation between ATLs party scene and an associated COVID spike among that particular demographic. This is of particular note since the commentary is largely "They gon' die "
People have been griping about ATL's club scene for months, predicting and seemingly hoping for the worst outcome, while the virus epicenter hopped all across the country and currently residing in Southern California.
It's not cool to see a bunch of people huddle together in the club during the pandemic, I get it. However, CONSTANTLY harping on the black club scene on some fake concern shyt has unfortunate implications. You're pinning the disease spread on black people despite us doing much more than our white counterparts to follow the mandates. No one is perfect. Definitely not you all. You all contribute to the risk everyday, just in ways you deem "acceptable."
Having these clubs open isn't smart, but it definitely isn't "genocide" as I've seen typed on here before. Seriously, genocide. There's been about 13,000 deaths from COVID in GA as a whole. Definitely nothing to sneeze at. But if the ATL club scene is the lynchpin of a genocide of African-Americans well they MIGHT want to go back to the drawing board because things are slow going.
The White Collar lockdown of last spring is more of a "genocide"
in my mind considering who were deemed essential workers and who could safely shelter in place/work from home. But that's another discussion.
