Mene Gene WAS the best. As time passes by, you really see, in comparison to the newest generation, how lucky Vince had these guys to help him out.
You can't replace Mean, only try to match his standards.
Not to mention in his era where Keyfabe was real, so you couldn't break charecter, you had to be stoic. Try keeping straight face to a bunch of coked-out, drunkered, steroid fueled wrestlers yelling into a camera about the goofiest shyt imaginable.
That is so fukking hard to do.

Im legit mad wwe didnt use him more. Yea they brought him back prolly more than anyone for a few things but he shoulda been at EVERY big show.
staple of my childhood noone ever EVER did it better. Dude knew how to change his voice per reaction. Everyone in the business today could learn something from gene. Im legit sad rn. He was like jimmy hart look the same age for 50 years... im not ready for all this. The combo of gene, fink, jesse and gorilla is the greatest announcing crew in history.

2019 already getting on my bad side. RIP to one of the true greats, no one has come close to matching what he did. One of the GOAT characters in the business, he transitioned flawlessly from WWF to WCW and was a linchpin to some classic interviews. Now he got a fleet of angels instead of lawyers on deck.
