I've upped my protein and reduced my carbs. Probably fewer calories though. But I read that the body will store excessive carbs/sugar...in forms of fat. The body doesn't store protein, except for muscle development/growth.
Fundamentally our bodies are EXTREMELY adaptive, and while yes, you are correct, we don't store protein, we don't need that much. 56-60 grams a day for a person not really destroying their entire body. If you're a bodybuilder the 1 to 1 ration holds true; 200lbs = 200 grams. But again, a regular person lifting, does not need to follow that rule.
I would ultimately say the same....don't be afraid of carbs, eat animal protein, and keep it all under 2100cal, walk two miles a day, workout, etc, the muscle growth will happen naturally.
