I’ll play devils advocate.

Boldy is a rapper’s rapper.

He sorta like a reasonable doubt Jay with the consistency of prime Curren$y,

His consistency is ridiculous for the level of rapping he doing and the amount of projects he put out. Breh got ran over by a semi and didn’t miss a beat. (Pun intended)

His discography since price of Tea in China is top tier.

He the best underground rapper out right now

He don’t have the highs of Jay and Nas just yet but he’s already there with Mobb, Wu, and anyone else in that lane right behind them.

lmao quantity over quality.

Boldy releases way too much and none of is special. He's the drug rap version of Curren$y. Just mindlessly putting out projects that don't resonate for more than their release window.

I think his releases with Alchemist are his best work but even they pale in comparison to Hov and Nas' best material.

These rappers need to realize that not everything you record needs to be released and that slowing down and taking time to craft your music creates better music in the long run. Very few rappers now make fans wait on an album now. None of these releases feel special. It's just more "content" for streaming.
It's smart from an SEO/streaming perspective (especially the way Spotify and other modern streaming services run their algorithms), and something that's fairly singular to rap as a genre. More musically inclined genres tend to focus on collaborative efforts that explore different styles and sounds. Jazz dudes play on tons of other shyt, as do rock and country mfs. I at least commend Boldy for seeking out different producers to work with, even if not everything is amazing.

Boldy does have some great projects. Nothing on the level of Illmatic or RD.

I’ve never bothered to put together a straight up playlist of his stuff because I wouldn’t be able to get through it.

This comparison falls apart completely for me when we start going song for song.

I wish I could figure out his appeal and why people really like him because I can’t get in to him at all.
Like breh said

He's literally drug rap Curren$y

These guys chose to be "9-5" rappers with endless catalogs instead of spending tons of time doing marketing (something they're not professionals at)

Have the same "issue", each tape might have 1-2 tracks that are undeniable slaps, surrounded by regular mid sounding tracks

Subject matter doesn't change, but he still figures out how to say shyt in a new way

Those guys never drop anything trash, but rarely drop anything memorable

legit 12/12 double double every night on the court, won't make the all star team but will have longer careers than all stars because those stats never drop

I put "issue" in quotations because it actually helps them on tour, nikka probably has at least 4 projects he's never rapped on stage, and all them hoes still making money over time on streaming

I am a Boldy fan heavy, I check for like 5 rappers and he’s one of them…but this is bullshhit, lol. Bro is wayyyyyyy too one-dimensional and way too monotone to even be mentioned in the same sentence as those guys. This is stupid. Serch okay, #queens, but he’s still kinda a suit, he probably got some business with Boldy or sumn

A typical Boldy rap:

  1. Something about the D
  2. Some Spanish Russian mami or whatever exotic he's fukking
  3. A new add on to the gun like a COD DLC
  4. A family member or friend that needs to watch himself in the dope game
  5. Shout out to the Bros
Dude is basically Jadakiss on Zoloft :francis:

Boldy is one of my favorites out. His work with Alc is generally very high quality. I'll be honest, I don't really mess with his other tapes for the most part. The Harry Fraud one was solid... Can't really say much for the others

I have a homie who I highly respect his hip hop opinion we generally align on best/favorite rappers….and the ONE rapper he is a diehard for and constantly tries to put me onto is Boldy James :heh: :ehh:

It helped me realize I don’t love this shyt like I used to. I just don’t be in the mood for new rappers :manny:
