I don't see why he would do this unless it's just charity for the sport/public image type of thing.

How could he make as much money doing this?

Boxing has 12 rounds. Even if you cut to commercial between the rounds....how much are companies really paying for that time?

And cutting to commercial during the break is wack anyways...I'm trying to see the corners and hear the commentary during that time.

Obviously if you have a couple of fights, you get multiple breaks between the fights, etc.

But this seems stupid for someone who has been as reliable at the PPV as he has.

I think there's many reasons for them to do it.

1. There is no legitimate, clear cut opponent for Mayweather to face yet. None of the top 147 fighters really boosted themselves into the spotlight this past year. Very underwhelming performances/match making for top 147lbers.

2. Audiences already paid the hefty $100 for a Mayweather fight this year, and they weren't exactly enthralled by it. Expecting people to pay again so soon after the $100 PPV is pushing it, ESPECIALLY if most spectators feel that reason #1 is true.

3. He gets to do Haymon a big favor by fighting for the PBC on national tv.. Floyd is a huge PPV attraction, BUT unlike his PPV events, he won't need to do much marketing or anything to get the public to tune in for free.

4. I believe that the hype and general sentiment surrounding fight #50 on PPV will be more favorable than what he could garner today for fight #49. For one, Mayweather would be on the verge of breaking a record as opposes to just tying it. Two, it might genuinely end up being his final fight! Three, more time to properly generate necessary hype for a PPV. Any opponent, whether it be Pacquiao Khan Thurman or etc, will have until May to make a solid case for #50 instead of being a seemingly unprepared, last minute pick for #49. Furthermore, the time between September and May gives more time for promotion than from now and September.

Really tho, May could just fukk around and make 49 & 50 PPVs and retire slightly richer. Maybe make 49 PPV and 50 a Superbowl type of event on free TV. We won't really know till the official announcement.:yeshrug:

Good look on the response.

I suppose I'm just caught up on the financial aspect, but I guess there could be a lot of benefits to him putting himself out there for all to see as opposed to just the diehards that pay/stream for his shyt.

Although, my concern is that Floyd would have a harder time on free tv, because he's been so god damn demonized in the media, he might chase advertisers away. Can you imagine these Michelle Beadle/Kate Fagan types going HAM if Coca-Cola gave money for his fight?

I'd love to see a superfight on ABC/NBC/FOX though, don't get me wrong.

The Ummah!
I think Floyd beats the shyt out of Khan N if Floyd fights :demonic: like he did Shane could KO Khan

I know all about Khan N his mistakes :sas2:
amir-khan.gif

I had to go at it with nikkas for a week after the Devon fight...telling me Khan is new N improved :gladbron:....he kills Swift in a rematch :wow:....only to see Khan battered N bullied by Chris fukkin Algieri :mjlol:

Exactly A :deadmanny: rematch at #50 still brings in money....even more of a reason to fight Khan now :ld:

Porter vs Floyd is a ugly fight...Floyd pulls it out but I have no desire in watching it

amir can fight when he wants to, hes just an emotional bum. He was destroying swift in that fight but he wanted to knock him out because of angel and got knocked out himself lol.

Floyd's last fight against Manny Pacquiao he was sponsored by Burger King....who paid him at least $1 million to have their "King" mascot walk down with TMT

I wouldnt worry about ad space being bought....PBC on NBC gets commercials now (that companies pay Haymon for) and that's for much lesser fighters, I can only imagine the cost to have your commercial played during a Floyd Mayweather fight:wow:

@ChocolateGiddyUp @Newzz

just found out that Ramadan ends tomorrow, Floyd could still end up fighting khan:patrice:

I would prefer Khan to Berto. I think Berto would get caught up in the moment...who's the best opponent he's faced? Ortiz? Guerrero? Collazo?

It might be too much of a jump in caliber. Don't get me wrong, regardless Floyd still wins easy, but I don't want Berto to get overwhelmed by the attention/media and not 100% focused on the fight.
