@storyteller can you break down the investigation for an outsider this ish hard to follow but crazy as f to see as well
Mayor Eric Adams, indicted in a lengthy corruption investigation, insisted he was innocent. Prosecutors are expected to announce the charges on Thursday.

The reason it’s been tough to follow, is that there’s not just one investigation into Adams’ team. There are a few ongoing, with two big ones.
His indictment is related to accepting illegal donations (seemingly related to Turkish officials). So it’s a bribery scandal with fraud committed to hide the payments and steal public funds (allegedly). Random highlight:
Caban (the police commissioner who resigned last week) and his brother are being investigated for corruption over a security business for night clubs. This one has the juiciest rumors, but they’re just rumors as far as I’ve seen.
The reason Caban’s case has people out the woodwork with different accusations is that a bunch NYPD-related connections have been raided or subpoenaed.
Not to be outdone, the FDNY also had chiefs resign due to a bribery scandal of their own and Adams’ chief counsel resigned bc he wouldn’t let go of officials being investigated for corruption.
So there are multiple scandals and they may or may not be connected (Adams’ allegedly pressed the FDNY to let buildings pass inspections as part of the bribes he took).
In short: it’s a clusterfukk, that looks like Adams got in and a bunch of his appointees saw a chance to go HAM with corruption. But it’s fair to note that corrupt officials and NYC have gone hand in hand for a long time, well before Adams took over…Adams just made it obvious by hiring family members and friends who had already been investigated for corruption prior to any of this.
