Not surprised. I think most of us kinda knew this for years.

But this dude is the GOAT for a reason. And I definitely understand the love for just recording for yourself and your people. Everything isn't meant to be put out for the public. But Dre loves just making music, and we can't expect him or anyone else to release everything or most of what they make. Music is mad personal for some of the greats. And Dre was never in it to put it all out to sell.

More accurately, His creative output suffers from

He’s known to work slowly in the studio, has perfectionist traits, high expectations for the work he releases and thus he procrastinates - envelopes himself in the creative process and feels remorse or disdain when arriving to the final product

This is why he’s only released 2 albums practically once every 10 years and his most recent album he didn’t call an album but a soundtrack because he didn’t want to feel the pressure of the expectations

by the end of the process he his feeling for what he was working on has splintered
