fukk Maxwell :yeshrug:

I'm sick of Black people and this "We Are the World" rhetoric when it comes to our accomplishments.

Beige/Yellow/Red/etc. folks do have history months.... he obviously haven't done his Googles.

I don't think he means celebrating all people during Black History Month in the sense of "all lives matter" per say. I think he's addressing the nuances associated with colorism and I see nothing wrong with that.Lena Horne should be celebrated the same as Nina Simone.

Nah, Maxwell has said some questionable shyt for a while. It is definitely on some "All Lives Matter" bullshyt; he's one of those "But what about Black on Black crime?" folks whenever Black people are shot by police.

I'm not familiar with his past questionable comments, but on this one considering the context of him saying, "not all of us look a typical black" followed by a picture of Lena Horne, I'm thinking he's addressing colorism.

What does a "typical" Black look like? What does Black History Month have to do with colorism? It's not called Typical Black History Month or Dark-Skinned Black People History Month. Who has denied Lena Horne or any other light-skinned black person their due while discussing BHM? Do they not fall under the Black moniker? Are they not included when folks describe Black history?

Considering folks like Adam Clayton Powell, Thurgood Marshall, W.E.B. Dubois, etc. are generally mentioned when talking about Black history, the whole "All of us ain't darkies, so don't forget about us light brights" flavor to his post is shyt.

Hmmm this has never been a problem tho. Sounds like fake outrage excuse to c00n. Fredrick Douglas and Malcolm X and countless others with lighter skin tones have been considered black and celebrated during blk history month. Sooooo...

Pretty wings need to chill and drop that next album.

Exactly... who was like "Nah, B, Ida B. Wells was too light-skint, we can't talk about her during BHM"?
