Honestly, as a neutral fan( raptors), the main concern for the 76ers in this season so far is how our former head coach, Nick Nurse has been for your team . He knew he was going to have to win some games without Embiid. And he still has failed to create any sort of offensive system without him. They really struggle with rebounding and defensive presence in the paint. Their defense to offense transition game is poor too.

The team struggles to build chemistry and cohesive execution this season because of constant and multiple injuries, and new players joining the squads this year (McCain, Paul George, yabusele)

Lowry is too small, washed up and should retire soon. Kelly Oubre and Caleb Martin are the same kind of players, defensive-oriented, streaky perimeter shoot-first players who can’t create their own shot and looks for others . They are too redundant. Trade one of them for a solid and reliable rebounder or playmaker

I know Embiid is still recovering from his injury/surgery, but it seems like he’s not the player he was before. He’s soft, passive and plays tentatively. He used to bes force and a gamebreaker despite being injury prone
On paper and in theory, when the Sixers are healthy, they are a very good quality team with top seed and championship aspirations but in reality they look disorganized and outmatched in most games. They also struggle with ball movement, ball possession and rebounding. I wonder about the collective basketball IQ of this team. They meltdown under pressure, can’t make the good decisions at the right time and can’t play with poise.

For me it’s seeing a team constructed without good passers or rebounders that’s so tough to watch. A weird and bad combination of weaknesses.

  1. Without good passers and playmakers , the offense looks disjointed and hard to get into good actions.
  2. They are getting outworked and out hustled for boards and loose balls
  3. Playing multiple small guards has made defense really hard. Forced mismatches leading to wide open 3s. The guards are physically outmatched and exposed.

they really let us draft the next Steph Curry :banderas:
I’m just concerned about the lack of passers and rebounders in an ineffective offense with poor offensive rebounding, and bad ball/player movement. It’s an unusual and bad combo of weaknesses. At this point, the best option to run the Sixers offense is point guard Jared McCain. Maybe they should Give him the keys early. It would be Great for Philly if he can pull it off, but it’s a lot of pressure on a shoulder’s rookie. Maxey is electric as a scorer but struggles to create looks for others.

Would the Sixers look better with Jakob Poeltl instead of Joel Embiid right now? What kind of players/draft picks would you give to Toronto in order to get him to Philly?

I don’t think Leasy is lying. Jo looks cooked and afraid out there.

But with that said..Nick nurse has been so damn bad this year it’s unreal.
Yeah Joel said it’s also a mental thing where he doesn’t trust pushing off his leg because he doesn’t wanna get hurt.

tbh im not even trying to give up assets anymore to win now, we're closer to a rebuild than contending. Oubre and KJM need to go, so i'd attach a pick with them, but not for Poeltl but a big that is closer to McCain/Maxey timeline.

Youth movement for Philly makes sense in your mind because you want to assemble a brand new core of players. A quick rebuild on the fly, a retool

But you only have two position players who are under 25 right now

Maxey at shooting guard ( great #2 scoring option)
And McCain at point guard( great draft pick, very promising talent)

That’s it

No young potential NBA caliber starters on the horizon at the two big positions ( power forward and center), and at the small forward position

Yabusele is a new player but he’s not that young(28 going on 29) and he’s already been drafted by a nba organization (Celtics in the 2016 draft)

Embiid is 30 injury prone and declining.
Paul George is 34

Caleb martin is 29
Lowry is 38

Oubre is 28 and will be 29 in 3 weeks

Do You have some other good players on the bench ?

We dont know what we have on our bench bc Nurse is committed to only playing 40 year olds. Only reason we know McCain is this good is because maxey got hurt, otherwise Reggie, EG an Lowry would still be taking all the guard spots. He's just like Doc Rivers in that regard.

Last season and summer league, Ricky Council looked like he could be Oubre 2.0. This year he gets no minutes. He's 23.

Bona had an excellent game the other day, outplaying what Drummond gave all season. He gets sent back to the G-league. He's 21

Im not trying to have another Isaiah Joe situation where a Coach doesnt give young players a chance and then they blossom elsewhere.

If Embiid isnt right, shut him down. Do not let him limp us to the 7th seed again.

Play the young guys so we know what we have, swing for Flagg/Bailey/Denim/Kneuppel etc in the draft. Then see if what Embiid looks like next season.

I gotta take some time to catch up on this thread, but these dudes look lost top to bottom, outside of the young dudes and Yabusele. I.E the dudes who play with some real love for the game/need to show something. I can't stand to watch too much of any given game, but it's pretty clear Nurse ain't a motivator type of coach. So if he's failing you in terms of Xs and Os AND doesn't have a good feel for who's worth a piss within the game itself, I don't know what value he has.

To me, if you're like 6-30 or some shyt, just tank and clean house of most of the old heads and Nurse. Like a breh said above, you got too many undersized guys as is, but you're gonna have to have Maxey and McCain. Lowry and Caleb...gotta find upgrades for them. Gotta find upgrades for quite a few spots and guys, but man...nightmare start
