Those hooks would not turned those songs into the great songs that they are. In fact, Jim Jones' work hasn't been the same since him and Max B went their separate ways. Max B was also the one who wrote the hook for Jim Jones most popular single to date, "Ballin". He was a great talent who knew how to write great songs. Max B could rhyme just as great as he could sing.

So yes, Max B has been the best artist Hip Hop has seen or had since the 90's.
