There is an old thread on this but I wanted to share some pretty entertaining stories/details (also I just discovered this sub...goodbye productivity). In mid-2013 a buddy and I met Maven when he was a bouncer at 1015 Midtown in NYC. Not only did we completely mark out - we chatted him up for close to two hours and got some great insight.
Once we recognized him, and after some deliberation of how to approach him, I walked up and said "Hardcore Champ?" He immediately lit up and said "THREE TIME!" while high-fiving us. He seemed to love that we knew him, he was super-friendly and he was willing to share some pretty good stories. Figure folks here may enjoy these and might be able to confirm or debunk a few of them. Also, full disclosure, I am skeptical about some of them but I figure I could share them and let everyone decide.
1) This was a funny mental picture - at HHH's bachelor party, Vince took a bunch of the guys to a strip club. By the end of the night they were all pretty drunk and while in the parking lot Taker told him to take a hip toss. Obviously you never refuse Taker, even in a parking lot - so he proceeds to take a nasty hip toss from Taker onto the hood of a rental car. Vince was watching and afterwards said "hell of a hip toss kid!"
2) He said aside from being a physical beast, Brock Lesnar is also absolutely crazy. For example - when Randy Orton got his first real big payday, he went and bought a brand new pickup truck. Taking it out for the first time - Orton is driving, Lesnar is in the passenger seat and Maven is in the back with someone else (I forget who). Lesnar proceeds to say something to the effect of - "this is a new car, we have to christen it" whips out his junk and shoots a load all over the dashboard. Insane.
3) This one is great too. During the weekend of WM18 after a night of heavy drinking he manages to leave the bar with Stacey Keibler. However, before that, he had taken some sort of pain killer since he thought he would be going home solo. When they get back to Keibler's hotel room she goes into the bathroom to get changed and apparently comes back out in some ridiculous lingerie. But before anything happens the pain killer kicks in and instead he falls asleep right then and there...he never got another shot after that.
4) We tried to pick his brain about current guys - here were his thoughts on Cena. He respects what Cena does in terms of PR and being the face of the organization, working A TON, etc., but in the ring he has two left feet - no surprise there. He also said he does have some decent pull when it comes to story lines, etc. We asked him about the heat between Cena and Alex Riley and if he knows the cause. Apparently, depending on who you believe, it was crazy personal and may have involved a relation between the two guys, or with a girl. In any event it was very strange.
5) He said CM Punk (remember this was 2013), acts a lot like his on-screen persona and really believes he's better than everyone.
6) He was pretty tight with Orton who he said is just an awesome regular guy.
7) Undertaker is extremely respected backstage by everyone. Back when he was performing regularly he looked out for younger guys backstage and no one ever messed with him. If you did wrong by Taker you were done.
8) The most nervous he ever was wasn't during the rumble, eliminating Taker, or performing at WM18...but when he wrestled Ric Flair. As Maven put it - he's a legend and it's a surreal experience to step in the ring with such an incredible performer he watched growing up and idolizing. He also said taking a Flair chop was the coolest thing.
9) There is a story about Cena sleeping with a girl who had a boyfriend unbeknownst to Cena. Apparently the guy found out and basically threatened Cena at gunpoint and had Cena bawling his eyes out in fear. I'm skeptical about that one but who knows.
10) He doesn't have a problem with HHH but said he was clearly playing backstage politics since Day 1, trying to move up the ranks, as he now has.
