I hate how forced it is. He recently said a wrestler was “running their division like cardio”.

It feels like he’s drawing attention to himself more than he is making a natural pop culture reference to explain a match”s story or a wrestler”s character better.

I don’t mind Mauro, I just hate how he always talks over the entrances. Happened in Pride, Strikeforce, Bellator, Njpw and on smackdown. He gotta shut up sometimes and know that it’s ok to have dead air

I love his enthusiasm. He is great calling matches, but these side hip hop and pop culture references are ridiculous.

I remember one time he compared Bobby Roode to Despacito I was like

Apparently, he's been doing it for years. He likes to keep up with pop culture and incorporate it into his commentary. It doesn't always work, but it probably helps him have more fun at the table.

I would rather hear a few hip hop references every week than have to hear "OH MY!" or "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!" or "THE BIG DOG!" or "IT'S BOSS TIME!" every week.
