Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
You're basically talking about Captain America in the MCU. That's what's so frustrating about this Superman bullshyt, is that Marvel has shown that it's possible to make a character like that work in modern times.

People used to shyt on Captain America for the same reasons they shyt on Superman..."He's bland, he's boring, he's too perfect". The biggest differences between Cap and Superman is that Superman is MUCH more powerful and Clark isn't quite as stubborn as Steve.

edit:

And note that none of the Captain America Movies are excessively dark, lack humor, or try to constantly reinvent or deconstruct the character. They allow Cap to be Cap and build compelling stories around him.

Going through Bryne's run of Superman, Synder's depiction isn't that far off from that, imo

I've found that most people who shyt on Superman in MoS do it in reference to Donner's Superman.

There's definitely plenty of precedents for a Superman who's more serious and gets angry. I'm reading "American Alien" now and while that is a post-MoS story it also sheds the "friendly neighborhood" Superman. The entire first two Crisis events were based on Superman "versions" who didn't play by the rules.
