Rise up!
Right now it's him and Olatoye running with the second unit so I trust the coaching staff if that's what they're seeing then I believe he's the better option. Jalen played well down the stretch last yr but maybe he rested on his laurels. And really if you read the training camp updates it sounds like every other player in the secondary is making plays, Goodwin, Wilson, Kazee, Olatoye...I haven't heard Jalen's name yet

I think it just shows you that this front office was serious about making everyone earn it in training camp, nothing is promised to anybody out there
I understand that it's a pure competition where everyone has a shot but Collins was part of the reason our defense was as ferocious as it was in the second half of the season/playoffs. He made several plays including FFs, INTs, pass breakups. I believe DQ isn't a fan but JC is the type that thinks he can slack and still get burn. The talent is there and I believe he can be as good as Tru if he applied himself. I know for a fact he's got the potential to be a shutdown corner but either DQ doesn't see it or like him or he's lazy :yeshrug:
Goodwin actually made some nice plays last year and even in the super bowl. He has good size being an ex basketball player.
Yeah he made a couple of surprising plays like the coverage against Adams? on 4th down in the regular season against GB but Collins shined all game in the playoffs. I feel like something is going on with him and DQ.

TBH I think the true depth chart will play out based on the preseason games. Pro Football Focus had Jalen as the 2nd most improved 2nd year player in all of football last season so it's obvious that he has alotta upside, but I think part of what's goin on is to help motivate him. Just because you made plays last year doesn't mean you're guaranteed a spot this year. He's gotta step it up and when he does he'll be get more burn.

It's funny tho b/c when I was talking to the Bird Brehs about this @Tee Little @Motife43 @The ADD i thought coming into preseason that you could see a nickel package of Tru & Jalen on the outside and Rocky move inside. That could still happen but Jalen gotta step it up and start making plays

The thing is that this cannot be based on this camp that quickly. There has to be something in mini-camp and off-season that prompted this IMO.

The more I think about it. If he was slacking at all during the off-season this makes sense. I hope that's not the case but DQ talked about how hard the guys have been working prior to camp. He also mentioned that they expect 2nd year guys to make a large improvement and 3rd year guys to continue to make improvements.

Falcons training camp Day 8 Injury update:

RB Tevin Coleman was missing from Friday's practice, which made you wonder if he got banged up the day before. But coach Dan Quinn said Coleman was excused for personal reasons and is expected to return Sunday, when the Falcons come back to practice. ... SS Keanu Neal was in full pads for practice but sat on the side during 11 on 11 drills while dealing with what Quinn called a strain. It doesn't appear to be serious. ... Backup OT Kevin Graf was injured during offensive line drills and had to be helped off the field. His status and injury are unknown. ... CB Akeem King worked on a side field while still recovering from an undisclosed injury. ... WRs Julio Jones (foot surgery) and Taylor Gabriel (lower leg) continue to have their reps monitored, although Jones looked explosive running one crossing route in 11 on 11.

Day 8 of Training Camp! No Friday Night Lights/Tak & Jake get into it/No TeCo/Julio & Gabriel still coming around slowly

1. Grady Jarrett can play receiver.
What can’t this guy do?

2. Tevin Coleman was excused.
Coleman wasn’t at practice, but don’t worry. Quinn said he was excused for personal reasons, according to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure. He should be back when the Falcons return to the practice field on Sunday.

3. Julio Jones and Taylor Gabriel are still limited.
Jones and Gabriel are able to participate, but neither is participating fully. Keanu Neal has a strain, according to Quinn, and didn’t participate in full team drills.

4. Takk McKinley and Jake Matthews got into it.
There was a little pushing and shoving between Takk McKinley and Jake Matthews.
